Pharmaceutical Video Production

Looking to educate and motivate patients, doctors, dentists and more about a product? Video is the perfect prescription.

Why video for pharma?

Creating marketing content for a pharmaceutical project creates a few challenges. You need a way to clearly communicate highly technical information, but also package it in a way that helps stand out in an often crowded, competitive space.

Video allows pharmaceutical companies to connect directly with their target audience in a way that covers key information, but also connects a product with an emotional benefit or feeling. Whether it’s a live action testimonial, or an animated ad that visualizes a drug’s efficacy in an intriguing way, you get the versatility to both show and tell.

Why work with Demo Duck?

We work as a partner, not just a vendor. Through conversation with clients, referencing informational materials, industry research, and competitive analysis, we become subject matter experts. This helps us figure out where the video fits into your strategy, how to maximize your budget, how it can speak to your audiences and of course—deliver measurable results. These ingredients can create that pitch-perfect live action explainer video or an engaging animated commercial for a product.

Pharmaceutical videos and healthcare videos are often two sides of the same creative production coin. Check out the blog posts below if you’re interested in learning about how we approach healthcare content, with many tenets informing the pharmaceutical work we do.

Four Considerations for Creating Compelling Healthcare Video Content

How 6 Industries Got Creative with Their Video Strategy

Types of pharmaceutical video productions:

  • MOA video series
  • Clinical trial recruitment videos
  • Patient education videos
  • Social media content
  • KOL interview videos
  • Compliance content
  • Conference openers or trade booth videos
  • Sales and marketing content

An approval optimized production process

The development and approval process for a drug or therapy is already extensive as it is. And if you're a pharmaceutical company or marketing agency who needs a video about a new treatment, the last thing you need are winding timelines and a convoluted workflow. With our vast experience in the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry, we're here to help you tell your story with an effective memorable message—without ideally creating too much additional work for you. Our team of experienced producers and creatives will help you develop videos that inform and engage patients, practitioners, caregivers and more.

We also know that a big part of pharmaceutical marketing is staying compliant. We're used to sculpting our creative production approaches to allow us to include safety or prescribing information, warnings, and more in a way that complements the visual or narrative flow of the piece.

So whether it's MLR, PRC, CAC, OPDP, or ISI we can take any acronym you throw at us and find a way to make it as least painful as possible.

Partner Showcase: Kourzeq

Turning irritation into mediation.

KOURZEQ, a canker sore treatment, needed 60, 30 and 15-second ads to help launch the product. We used 3D design and animation to visually communicate the journey from pain to healing to—finally—relief.

Animation allowed us a unique way to talk about the problem. Hey, canker sores are common—we’ve all had one. But do you really want to see them? Abstracting the process using circles, bubbles and ovals allowed us to shift the visuals from a more literal, visceral depiction. We then used different color choices to establish pain vs. relief, along with text on screen to emphasize key messaging. Since we were introducing KOURZEQ to the market, we also featured a memorable product reveal as the centerpiece of the video—complete with a 3D modeled paste tube.

The result was a sleek, premium looking video that was a centerpiece asset used in the brand launch.

Partner Showcase: Darzalex Faspro

Just because a video needs to include a lot of information doesn't mean it can't look beautiful. Our team created an animated video that explained how the combination of active ingredients in DARZALEX FASPRO helps treat multiple myeloma. We utilized a sleek combination of 2D and 3D graphics and a rich exploration of the brand's color scheme to break down the basics of the treatment and how it can fit in with a patient's treatment plan. This animated explainer was part of a larger partnership with DARZALEX FASPRO, which also included a live action explainer on understanding the patient experience.

Partner Showcase: Fintepla

In the pharmaceutical space, education is key. Patients, healthcare professionals—but don’t forget about caregivers too. Some caregivers may be people embracing a new role in their family’s life, and learning about medication management and more.

Our team produced an 8-video series that educated caregivers about FINTEPLA, an antiseizure drug for children with rare epileptic diseases. Video topics ranged from explaining how an Echocardiogram works to how FINTEPLA fits in with an existing treatment plan. Each video started with a mix of colorful, easy-to-follow 2D animation featuring friendly characters and visual aids, and then ended with important safety messaging displayed on-screen and read with VO.

Working with Demo Duck on our healthcare video production was a highlight of the past year.  They seamlessly took a highly technical medical process and brought it to life for the consumer in a creative and engaging way. The entire team at Demo Duck is easy to work with and were an incredible partner throughout the video production process.  10/10 would recommend!"

Prescribing more effective videos

Creating content with our partners working in the pharmaceutical industry can certainly bring about a unique set of challenges. But the end goal—and the means to get there—is the same as with our corporate partners: create effective content by engaging the viewers. Sure, for these productions we need to be mindful of ISI, accurate disclaimers, and compliance-approved visual representations, but Demo Duck puts ourselves in the mind of the audience throughout production so that the video accomplishes the goal we discuss at kickoff.

How do we make sure the visuals in the videos are medically accurate?

Our designers prefer as many realistic or scientifically accurate representations of the material as possible. Once we create the initial designs we find it best to get a medical team or trust advisory board to review the visuals to sign off on the accuracy of the content.
